| The usual long, sad farewells to Cody with admonitions to Mary to please watch over our castle and our Princess. Although this is really no more than a "long weekend," we always want to feel that the old homestead is secure. | | Fifteen minute drive to Tucson International Airport and the new stringent post-9/11 security. This is our first flight together since September 11, although I have made several business flights since then. For some reason, in Tucson I am the designated random searchee. Must be the hair. | | | | After decent quesadillas and a turkey wrap at the airport El Charro restaurant we reminisced about Europe as we waited for the 6:40 flight to Los Angeles, the first leg of this chapter of Our Magnificent Journey. | | As usual, Carol has done all of the research, all of the planning and all of the packing. All I had to do was to show up and drive us to the airport. | | Southwest Flight 2187, a Boeing 737, left Tucson five minutes late but sped us to LAX ten minutes early. Fog-enshrouded Los Angeles was a cool relief from the roiling desert, and we spent a pleasant evening with Carol's wonderful parents. We slept well, anticipating the next six days of fun in Paradise. |
